What would happen if you were to walk through volcanic ash, and tried to breathe?

1) Your lungs would become full of ash and you would die of suffocation if you did not die first from 2) the ash being burning HOT! Volcanic ash is burning hot and would burn your eyes and your mouth and your throat and your lungs. The burn would not just be a burn, but as all burns do, they water. This is a natural function of the body to try and cool a burn. When the inside of the lungs fill with water from trying to deal with the burn, you die from the water in your lungs. In other words, you would drown. In addition to this, volcanic ash is made of tiny particles of glass and rock. The glass particles would slice up the insides of your mouth, throat, and lungs.
